A bottle of whisky which experts believe could be the oldest in existence has sold at a Bonhams auction house in London for £14,850.
The Glenavon Special Liqueur Whisky is believed to have been bottled about 150 years ago at the Glenavon Distillery, which was located in Banffshire. There was gobal interest in the sale, with bidders from the Far East and US. The bottle, which has been owned by an Irish family for generations, eventually went to an anonymous bidder.

BenRiach unleashes the Wood

According to BenRiach’s own website they are pleased to announce the release of the 1st ever BenRiach ‘Wood Finish Series’, a collection of 4 BenRiachs finished in either sherry, port, madeira or rum casks.

Each of the whiskies will be non-chill filtered, natural color and bottled at 92 proof. Worldwide availability of these whiskies will be limited to a range of 340-510 cases. Once these wood finishes are gone the distillery plans to replace them with new styles.
