In the north of Sweden, BOX opens a distillery in Ã…dalens Art Center.
Local entrepreneurs has done a market research to evaluate the possibilities of starting a whisky-distillery by the shores of Ångermanälven.
In the old energy plant, recently used as a art exhibition, they will now build their distillery.
Swedish whisky-consultant Anders Jonasson guided the group of entrepreneurs through Scotland. During that journey the group visited several Scottish distilleries.
John McDougall
(experience from Springbank, Balvenie and Laphroigh among others) has after that been consulted to lead the northern distillery’s pursuit for the golden liquid.
BOX intend to produce Swedish single malt whisky in line with Scottish traditions and methods. Inside the old power plant, a complete distillery will be built up during the winter of 2008 and be in full production spring 2009.. The traditional copper bins will produce about 90000 liter of alcohol a year.
For those of you out there that thinks this sounds exciting we should let you know that BOX are looking for investors. If you want to find out more, mail: info@boxdestilleri.se or visit the BOX homepage (In swedish)
