When the Fine & Rare Collection from The Macallan entered the market we thought we would save up a bit of money to buy our own collection with one bottle from each of the years that we were born and then we would have ourselves a really nice tasting!! We still haven’t gone in to “buy mode” but we found this article about two guys that definitely appreciate the finer things in life. Imagine the kind of whisky room they could set up after this! Not that we think it was that empty before, but if any of you two whisky lovers want to invite us over for a private tasting please let us know! We simply love people that can make us dream even more about that perfect whisky cabinet….

Ulf Buxrud, a Scandinavian keeper of the Quaich and a Malt Maniac, has released the Rare Malts, Facts, Figures and Taste.
The book is an endeavor to document the facts and figures of a formative and exciting segment of whisky history. It is also an attempt to mirror the arduous work and joy surrounding the rise of cottage trade that became an industry.
Rare Malts portrays all the distilleries involved in the compilation of the Rare Malts Selection series; a collection of outstanding examples of the makes of thirty-six legendary distilleries. Each portrait contains histories and technical data, some never published before. The portraits include flavour profiles, tasting notes and comments. A special segment deals with tasting methodology; another gives a deeper insight into whisky nomenclature. In addition the full story of the Rare Malts Selection series is told in detail.
The book retails for 30£

One of the striking things about the whisky industry is that although they seem to have a global presence,
consumers that are younger than 30 among their target and have a great story to tell most of them suck at communication and use of new media. Trust us, getting information out of whisky brands is like finding weapons of mass destruction in Iraq…impossible.
However, some of the classic single malts has got it. Bruichladdich are amongst them. So, now you can enjoy the latest news from Bruichladdich including Master Distiller Jim McEwan discussing their new releases in your Mp3 player. Head over to their pod-cast section and sign up.
Good work there Bruich!
