The Benromach distillery, have launched Benromach Sassicaia Wood Finish. Officially unveiled at Whisky Live London, less than 1000 units from the 3000 units out-turn will be available for sale in the UK.
Using pure spring water from the nearby Romach Hills and the finest Scottish barley, Benromach is made by experienced distillers, personally ensuring only the highest quality spirit is filled into hand selected oak casks. The casks of new whisky are laid down to mature at Benromach, Speyside’s smallest working distillery.
After a period of maturation the Benromach spirit is transferred to Sassicaia wine casks where it is allowed to mature for a further 27 months. Sassicaia is regarded as one of the most prestigious wines in the world. It is created in the exciting and fashionable Tuscan wine producing region of Bolgheri.
Benromach Sassicaia Wood Finish is amber in colour with a deep ruby glow. The nose reveals rich dry fruits (blackberries, black currents), hints of malt and spices with a touch of vanilla. Peat smoke lingers in the background. The palate is rich with sweet fruit flavours balanced with spice, pepper and smoke.
