TWO political heavyweights are hoping to give a dramatic boost to fund-raising for Warwick Hospital’s new cancer unit.
As part of the push to raise £300,000 towards the £1.2m development at the Lakin Road hospital, an auction organised by MP James Plaskitt is offering two bottles of whisky signed by Tony Blair and Gordon Brown.
Both the outgoing Prime Minister and his successor have put their names to the House of Commons bottles, which will now be sold to the highest bidder on the Warwick and Leamington MP’s website. The starting bid for the two bottles is £40 each (plus £7.99 special delivery charge)
Mr Plaskitt was grateful for the donations to a cause close to his heart. “I am grateful to the Prime Minister and Chancellor for helping get this off to a great start - and I am really appreciative of those local businesses who have already pledged items to the auction.”
