BenRiach Release 3 New Smokin’ Wood Finishes

News came in from BenRiach. They have now confirmed details of their latest releases, a range of 3 heavily peated 12 year old BenRiachs, originally matured in American oak, then finished in either sherry, port or dark rum casks.
Following their tradition of giving our peated expressions Latin names (which started with Curiositas and Authenticus), the new releases are called ‘Heredotus Fumosus’, ‘Importanticus Fumosus’ and ‘Arumaticus Fumosus’.
‘Heredotus Fumosus’ literally translates to ’smoky Sherry’, and is a 12 year old heavily peated BenRiach finished in Pedro Ximinez Sherry Butts, sourced from the famous old bodegas of Jerez in Southern Spain.
‘Importanticus Fumosus’ translates to ’smoky Port’, and is a 12 year old heavily peated BenRiach finished in Aged Tawny Port Hogsheads.
Finally, ‘Arumaticus Fumosus’ translates to ’smoky rum’, and is a 12 year old heavily peated BenRiach finished in Jamaican Dark Rum Barrels.
Each of these single malts cleverly combine the distinct and contrasting aromas and flavours associated with richly peated malt whisky and the elegant style of wood selected for final maturation (i.e. the ‘finish’).
All 3 are non chill filtered and bottled at 46% vol (92 proof) and at natural colour. Availability is strictly limited, with just 530 six-packs of ’Heredotus’ released, 420 six-packs of ‘Importanticus’ released and an extremely limited 290 six-packs of ’Arumaticus’ released.
