The 2007 Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival enjoyed the highest visitor numbers yet, according to a report produced this week by an independent market research team.

Some 16,000 people flocked to the area for the ninth annual event this May, up 13% on last year, bringing £600,000 to the local economy. The Festival has run annually since 1998, celebrating Scotland’s ‘Malt Whisky Country’ through a series of specialist whisky events and helping to promote tourism in the quieter months.

Did you miss it?

Don’t worry, there’s a autumn festival coming up.

Dufftown will host the Speyside Autumn Whisky Festival from Friday 28 September to Monday 1 October 2007. Read the festival program and book your ticket here.
