Green light for first Scottish major distillery in 30 years

Great news! The Scotsman.com reports that SCOTLAND’S first major whisky distillery in more than three decades was given the go-ahead yesterday.
The £40 million plant will be built at Roseisle, between Elgin and Forres, by the drinks giant Diageo, which already operates a maltings at the site.
Building could start shortly, with the aim of opening in 2009 and the first mature spirit being produced by 2012.
