Aberdeenshire-based whisky merchants, Duncan Taylor, which has a strong presence in specialist whisky shops throughout the UK, has identified a strong opportunity to grow its UK market share from its large premises in Huntly.
As it focuses on building its retail offering in advance of the new distillery in 2008 Duncan Taylor has recruited Ronnie Routledge from the Speyside based company Gordon & Macphail
Ronnie’s brief is to turn Duncan Taylor’s whisky shop, Whiskies of Scotland, into a ‘must visit’ location on the Speyside whisky trail.
Euan Shand, Managing Director commented: “Our attention up until now has been launching the Duncan Taylor brand into the market and growing our marketshare. We have built up a huge following all over the world and are attracting buyers to Scotland. It is only fitting for us to have a retail offering that reflects the quality of our products and Ronnie is the right man to help us achieve this.”
40 year old Ronniehas over 23 years experience in the drinks industry and in 2003 was made a “Keeper of the Quaich” in recognition of services to the whisky industry.
Ronnie added: “Duncan Taylor has given me a fresh challenge. It is a great opportunity to be amongst a talented and forward-thinking team with a very bright future ahead of them. The new distillery is, of course, the icing on the cake”
Duncan Taylor continues; Ronnie will be instrumental in helping Duncan Taylor break into the corporate entertainment market. An accomplished whisky taster, he is an inaugural judge for Scottish Field magazine’s Whisky Merchant’s challenge.

Bravo to Duncan Taylor. We had the pleasure to see Ronnie at work in Gordon and Macphail. He is very knowledable and we thoroughly enjoyed the tastings. We plan to come to Huntly in April and visit the new shop and see Ronnie again in person. I am sure he will do well by your company. Thanks Rose Smith
