Laphroaig 27

Today I received a mail from Laphroaig letting me know that an exclusive 27 year old bottling of Laphroaig had been made available exclusive to 80 of the Friends of Laphroaig.

Wow I thought to my self. I quickly followed the link to the special website dedicated to what Laphroaig calls “sublime expression”

A short handwritten (or at least typed) introduction makes me extra curious about this new product. The website then takes you through the story of the background of the new 27 year old. The discovery of the 27 year old. How the team at Laphroaig inspected, tasted and then took the discussion to release a new bottling for the connoisseurs out there.

Laphroaig 27 BottleA new label and packaging to put focus on the inside rather then the outside has been developed. And now the 27 year old is available for everyone to buy…well, at least if you have £500 to spend on this beauty.

As you will read on the website there are only 12 barrels of ‘the 27’. Once bottled there will be no more. The little ‘27’ there is will be scattered around the World, mainly in specialist stores. But, for the first 80 friends of Laphroaig there is more to the story.

Laphroaig thought it only fair that ‘the friends’ had the first opportunity to buy it. And for the first 80 “friends” Laphroaig has done something special. They have hand labeled the very first 80 bottles with an exclusive ‘friends’ version of the label – this has been personally signed by John Campbell and Robert Hicks and numbered. They have also produced a certificate of ownership that has been personally signed by every member of the team at the Laphroaig distillery.

If you would like to become one of ‘the 80’ then you can buy a bottle from the website now. It will be sold on a first come, first served basis.
