Johnnie Walker Blending Kit

For a limited period this Christmas, Johnnie Walker Blue Label blended Scotch whisky is offering whisky connoisseurs a unique gift - a Bespoke Blending experience.

Hosted by Johnnie Walker Whisky Ambassador Charlie Smith, this unique experience will begin with a personal introduction to Johnnie Walker Blue Label with a tasting of some of the rarest malt and grain whiskies from the Johnnie Walker stocks. Charlie has a distinguished career with more than 32 years experience as a Master Distiller, including manager at the famous Talisker distillery on the Isle of Skye. With his unrivalled skill and knowledge, Charlie will lead you through the tasting and nosing of some of the rarest whiskies in the world.

Johnnie Walker Blue Label Ambassador Charlie Smith said, “The story and artistry surrounding Blue Label and why it is the ultimate expression of the Master Blenders art is fascinating. Having access to these incredible whiskies selected to create Johnnie Walker Blue Label is such a rare insight; it’s a pleasure to be able to share this with others. Bespoke Blend By Blue Label really is the ultimate gift for a whisky lover.”

Johnnie Walker  distilleries have over seven million casks of Scotch whisky available and only 1 in every 1000 are deemed to hold the exceptional flavours and properties necessary for the Blue Label blend. Some of the distilleries that produced these casks no longer exist, making the whiskies literally irreplaceable.  Other whiskies have such a unique character, aroma and flavour that they are set aside only for use in blending Blue Label.

Whiskies to be included in the experience are Talisker 18 year old single malt, which recently received the title of Best Single Malt in the World*and Glenury Royal  – a 36 year old malt worth more than £480 per bottle. The Glenury Royal distillery was closed in 1985, and a tasting of this long-aged whisky is a rare luxury indeed. Rosebank 20 year old - a rare but celebrated Lowland malt, from a distillery no longer in existence, and Millburn a 25 year old malt from the now closed distillery originally in Inverness.

The Johnnie Walker Blending team has in excess of 120 years experience – skills showcased and shared during a tutorial on the art of blending, giving unprecedented access to these incredibly exclusive whiskies, and guiding you as you create your own bespoke blend.

The session will end with a tasting of Blue Label – the ultimate expression of the true art of blending completing this unique experience.

The Bespoke Blend by Johnnie Walker Blue Label experience will be available from until January 2008 via Selfridges. Prices start at £3,000 for a one-to-one blending experience at a venue of your choice within the UK.

All booked experiences must take place before 30th June 2008. Due to the extreme rarity of the whiskies, only 10 Bespoke Blend by Johnnie Walker Blue Label experiences will be available in total.
